Do Bluetooth earphones like AirPods or Galaxy Buds work too?

Yes, both Bluetooth and wired earphones are supported. If your earphones are connected to your phone over Bluetooth — like AirPods or Galaxy Buds — you can use earphone mode with them.

Nenne doesn’t care about the earphone brand. Any earphones your phone recognizes as a “Bluetooth audio device” can be used in earphone mode, and the connection indicator on the Home tab changes to “Bluetooth connected.”

Check before you start

  1. Check that your earphones show as “Connected” in your phone’s Bluetooth settings.
  2. Check that the connection indicator on the Nenne Home tab shows “Bluetooth connected.”
  3. If it’s your first time using these earphones, test with a 10-second timer to confirm the alarm actually plays through them.

Things that can happen because they’re Bluetooth earphones

  • Put in the case or powered off · This is treated as a disconnect, so the timer or alarm stops. It continues once you reconnect.
  • Connection switches to another device · If your earphones auto-connect to a laptop or tablet, they may show as disconnected from your phone. Double-check before you fall asleep.
  • Battery runs out · If the connection drops, the alarm won’t switch to the speaker. For a long nap, check your earphone battery beforehand.
  • Taken out of your ears only · If the connection to your phone stays active, the alarm can keep ringing through the earphones.

If you absolutely must wake up

Depending on battery and connection status, you might not hear the alarm through Bluetooth earphones. For something you can’t afford to miss, like an interview or a flight, use wired earphones instead, or also set your phone’s built-in alarm as backup.

iPhone

Tap the audio output button in Control Center to see which device sound is currently going to. Make sure your earphones are selected.

Android

In an earlier version, on some Galaxy devices, Bluetooth earphone-mode alarms and previews didn’t play through either the earphones or the speaker. If you don’t hear any sound, update to the latest version.
