Do wired earphones, USB-C earphones, or adapters (dongles) work too?

Yes. 3.5mm wired earphones, USB-C earphones, and earphones plugged into a USB-C adapter (dongle) are all recognized as wired earphones.

Once connected, the indicator on the Home tab changes to “Wired connected.” Unlike Bluetooth, wired earphones can’t switch to another device or run out of battery, so they’re a good choice for an important alarm.

Things to know when using wired earphones

  • If the cable snags while you sleep and the earphones come out, the alarm stops. Plug them back in and the alarm resumes ringing, or the timer continues.
  • For some USB audio devices, your phone can’t tell whether it’s earphones or a speaker. If you’re using a new adapter or USB device for the first time, check where the alarm rings with a 10-second timer.

If wired earphones aren’t recognized

  1. Unplug the adapter and earphones, then plug them back in all the way.
  2. Check whether music plays through the earphones in a music app. If music also comes out of the speaker, it may be an issue with the adapter or port.
  3. Update Nenne to the latest version.
  4. If it still doesn’t work, contact us with your phone model and the earphone/adapter model name.

iPhone

Earphones connected as a USB audio device are also recognized as wired earphones.

Android

In an earlier version, USB-C earphones and USB-C adapters were treated as “No earphones,” preventing earphone mode from starting. The latest version recognizes them as wired earphones.
