What Nenne does
An alarm is meant to wake one person. When it plays through a phone speaker, everyone nearby hears it too. Nenne routes that sound to your headphones, so it reaches the person who needs to wake up.
- Alarms through headphones onlyWorks with both wired and Bluetooth headphones.
- Unplug to pauseIf your headphones disconnect, the alarm pauses instead of switching to the speaker. Reconnect them and it resumes.
- Nap timers and wake-up alarmsSet a nap timer from 10 seconds to 180 minutes, down to the second, or schedule a wake-up alarm for a time and days of the week.
- Eight languagesAvailable in Korean, English, Japanese, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, German, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
Learn how it works in the headphone alarm guide.
The name
Why “Nenne”?
Nenne takes its name from the Japanese word ねんね, a gentle word used when putting a child to bed.
The Nenne team wanted a name that says “it’s okay to rest for a moment,” even in an alarm app. Read the story in Where the name Nenne came from.
The beginning
An alarm in a library reading room
Nenne began with an alarm going off in a university library. Someone had fallen asleep at a desk, and their phone rang loudly through its speaker. Only one person needed waking, but the whole reading room had to hear it.
What if the sound could reach only the person who needed it? That question became Nenne. Read more in The library alarm that inspired Nenne.
