Why is notification permission needed?
Notification permission is needed so the alarm can ring on time even while your screen is locked or you’re using other apps. On Android, exact alarm permission is also required.
What is the permission used for?
- Scheduling the alarm · Starting a timer also schedules the end time with your phone. This scheduling is why the alarm rings even with the screen off.
- The Stop button on the lock screen · Shows a notification you can stop right from the lock screen while the alarm is ringing.
- Remaining-time display · Shows the remaining nap time through the Android progress notification and the iPhone lock screen display.
Without the permission, you’ll see “Allow alarm permissions and try again.” and the timer won’t start. This prevents starting an alarm that couldn’t ring on time.
Permissions Nenne doesn’t request
Since earphone connection is checked using your phone’s audio output information, Nenne doesn’t request Bluetooth or microphone permission.
If you turned the permission off and back on
While the permission was off, scheduling may not have worked. After allowing it again, open Nenne and check that your wake-up alarms are turned on in the list, turning them back on if needed.
iPhone
Find Nenne in iPhone Settings, tap Notifications, and turn on Allow Notifications and Sounds.
Android
Tap Open Settings in Nenne’s permission prompt to go straight to the right screen. Allow both notifications and exact alarms.
