If I don’t stop the alarm, does it keep ringing forever?
No. It turns off automatically 10 minutes after it starts ringing. This prevents an alarm that nobody stops from ringing all night.
In the past, an unstopped alarm could keep ringing for hours. If you stepped away from your phone or fell into a deep sleep with your earphones in, that disturbed people nearby and drained the battery. So now, the alarm stops itself after 10 minutes.
What happens when it turns off automatically?
No ad is shown when it turns off automatically. What happens beyond that depends on where the alarm was ringing.
- The app’s alarm screen was open · Same as tapping “Stop Alarm.” Naps are recorded and the next occurrence of a repeating wake-up alarm is scheduled.
- The screen was locked or it was ringing outside the app · Same as “Stop” on the notification. Naps aren’t recorded, and if the app was force-quit, the next occurrence of a repeating wake-up alarm is scheduled the next time you open the app.
Worried you won’t wake up within 10 minutes?
In earphone mode, the sound stops if your earphones come out while you sleep. If you absolutely must wake up, use speaker mode or also set your phone’s built-in alarm.
If sound keeps playing with no way to stop it
Use “Reset alarms” in the Settings tab to stop every ringing or scheduled alarm at once.
